After the PhD: Interview with Gabriela C. Monsalve

Gabriela C. Monsalve received her PhD in Biological Chemistry. Now she works in graduate and postdoc services and administration. She’s in charge of developing and evaluating programming that aids PhD students and postdocs with professional development at the University of California, San Francisco. How did her PhD prepare her for this career? A molecular geneticist by training, Gabriela spent fifteen years “on the bench.” Her current career still requires a lot of data analysis, evaluation, and dissemination, and she’s learning more about policy development and program management.

In our “After the PhD” series, we interview PhDs who have successfully transitioned from PhDs and graduate work to careers outside the academy – without sacrificing their engagement. Interested in sharing your post-PhD career story? Get involved with Beyond the Professoriate!
